Today, Buddy would like to present this annual festival, which showcases the unique identity of the Tha Rae community. This is a place where Catholic faithful come together to organize and transform the community area, filling it with dazzling, multi-colored lights to commemorate the Nativity of Jesus and various Christmas stories.
.
The origin of the Star Procession Festival stems from the faith of the “Christang” (Roman Catholic Christians) towards God and their religion. In 1982 (B.E. 2525), the people of Tha Rae collaboratively created paper stars, symbolizing the star in the sky and the birth of the Lord Jesus. They carried these stars in a procession around the community before concluding at the St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral. This tradition was well-received and has been practiced every Christmas ever since. What started as a small community event has gradually grown, ultimately becoming a unique hallmark of Sakon Nakhon Province.
